Jay Lawrence Friedman, M.D. is the owner of the practice. He has Manhattan offices at 310 West 72nd Street in the Upper West Side and at 440 East 79th Street in the Upper East Side. He is also the owner and managing member of Tenafly Psychiatric Associates, L.L.C. in Tenafly, New Jersey. Dr. Friedman graduated from Princeton University. He is an Instructor in Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He completed an internship in internal medicine at a Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons Program and he completed his residency in Psychiatry at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School as Chief Resident. His fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry was at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Jason E. Estok, M.D. is a board certified psychiatrist who is also certified as an addiction specialist. He completed medical school at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and went on to complete his residency training in psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He has extensive experience in both general and geriatric psychiatry. He has been practicing psychiatry for over 10 years.
Janet M. Fairbanks, M.D. is a board-certified general psychiatrist with experience in all areas of psychiatry including a strong background in geriatric psychiatry. She graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University for her Bachelor’s degree. She completed medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and went on to complete her psychiatry residency training at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. She also completed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York Presbyterian Hospital. She has served as a staff psychiatrist and assistant attending psychiatrist at New York Presbyterian Hospital and as medical director of psychiatric research at New York State Psychiatric Institute. Dr. Fairbanks has been the recipient of research grants and awards. She has participated in numerous research studies in psychiatry and is a contributor to many distinguished publications. She has been practicing psychiatry for over 35 years.
Yakov Semenov, M.D. is a board-certified general psychiatrist with experience in all areas of psychiatry including a strong background in geriatric psychiatry. He was a resident in psychiatry both at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and at the University of Texas at Houston, where he completed his training. He has been practicing psychiatry for over 23 years.
Natalya Knafel, M.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Nutrition Sciences from Brooklyn College. She graduated from American University of Antigua College of Medicine during which she completed a variety of clinical rotations in New York. She completed her Psychiatry Residency training at Harlem Hospital Center. Harlem Hospital Center, branded as NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, is a 272-bed public teaching hospital affiliated with Columbia University where she was elected Intern of the Year in her first year of residency and where, for her fourth year of residency, she served as a Chief Resident in Psychiatry.

Sang Kyu Nam, M.D. completed his 4 years of Fellowship in Clinical Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts during which he also had sub-specialization training in adult, geriatric, forensic and adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Nam has an extensive career history of clinical practice in Psychiatry. He has been an Attending Psychiatrist at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in N.J. and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey in addition to being in private practice for many years. Among Dr Nam’s specialties are treatment of anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, depression, OCD, eating disorders, sleep disorders, addiction medicine, neuro-psychiatric cognitive issues and dementia.

Margaret Cummins is a certified advanced practice clinical nurse who specializes in adult psychiatric and mental health nursing, with prescriptive privileges. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Hunter College in New York City. She completed her Master's degree in nursing from Hunter College, as well, and subsequently became a Ph.D. candidate in nursing theory and research at NYU. She has extensive experience in treating geriatric patients and has been in practice for over 25 years.
Linda Berger is a Board Certified advanced practice nurse who specializes in adult and geriatric mental health nursing with prescription privileges. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rutgers University in New Jersey and her Masters Degree in Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City. Linda has been in practice for over twelve years treating adult and geriatric patients.
Traci Zuckerman has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Studies and Consumer Resources from the University of Arizona and a Masters degree in Social Work from Loyola University. She has over 10 years of experience providing therapy as a clinical social worker. She provides psychotherapy and works with adults and seniors with depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues and family problems.
In addition to the practice in Tenafly and Dr. Friedman's Manhattan offices in the Upper West and Upper East sides of New York, we also see patients at about thirty additional locations throughout the Northeastern New Jersey and neighboring New York areas.
